Things To Keep In Mind

We make our own snow. Even if the winter looks brown outside your window, it's white over at Satre Hill thanks to our state-of-the-art snow guns.

February weather can be quirky- temperatures at Jumpfest can range from the single digits up to the forties, so bring warm clothes.

If you have never seen ski jumping live, you have never truly witnessed the sport. Standing amidst the ringing cowbells, with crowds cheering on their favorites, hearing skis slapping against the landing hill as these brave jumpers soar up to 200 feet through the air at speeds up to 50 miles an hour, is something you must experience.

Proceeds from Jumpfest fund SWSA youth skiing programs.
Please check jumpfest.org for program changes and schedule updates.

The Human Dog Sled Race

A Truly Unique Event
We only know of a half dozen places or so in the country crazy enough to host it- Dartmouth, NH; Lowell, MA; Michigan Tech U.; Lake Okoboji, Iowa; Lake Geneva, Wisconsin….and Salisbury, CT.

We speak of course of Jumpfest's Human Dog Sled Race- that zany, hilarious exercise where six intrepid souls, five pulling one, on a sled of their own design, race against other teams on a 200 yard long snow course to the delight of hundreds of cheering fans, many of them holding a cowbell in one hand and a hot toddy in the other.

The HDR is a crowd favorite on Friday night of Jumpfest weekend, and if you would like to gather five of your friends or co-workers to participate in the fun, contact Brian at info@jumpfest.org. It only costs $25 to sign up a team, plus you get free entry to Jumpfest.

But if you are more of the observer type, there is plenty going on for you. Besides the Human Dog Sled Race, Friday night offers target jumping under the lights, food, beverages, bonfires all in a party like atmosphere.

And on Saturday and Sunday you'll witness some of the best ski jumpers in the East, some who will be looking to break the Hill record!

Area Information

About Salisbury
The Town of Salisbury, incorporated in October of 1741, is located in the very Northwest corner of the State of Connecticut. It includes the villages of Salisbury and Lakeville, and the hamlets of Amesville, Lime Rock and Taconic.

The Housatonic River flows from North to South and crosses Town lines along its way. Within Salisbury are several ponds and six lakes: Wononscopomuc, Washinee, Washining, Wononpakook, Riga Lake and South Pond. As well as the lakes, the Salisbury land is comprised of low mountains, including access to the Appalachian Trail, and open fields. Residents take advantage of the beautiful hiking and walking trails. The lakes and beaches are busy with swimmers, boaters and fishermen during all seasons.
